In support of World Hepatitis Day 2024, on Sunday 28 July, West Yorkshire Liver Care Operational Delivery Network (ODN), worked in partnership with Calderdale Recovery Steps and the Hepatitis C Trust to offer Hepatitis C testing and Liver Health Checks to their service users in the week leading up to the World Hepatitis Day.
The team attended Brighouse Central food bank at the Central Methodist Church with the ODNs mobile clinic vehicle, and offered fibroscans, a non-invasive, specialised scan used to assess the health of a person’s liver.
Along with our Liver Buddies team, the event was attended by Caroline Martin and Cashe Mitchell, from Recovery Steps, Michael Jaworskyj, a volunteer with the Hepatitis C Trust and was hosted by Norman Lake, a representative from Central Food Bank.
The event was well attended, and on the day 22 people had either a hepatitis C test or liver scan.
On Saturday 27 July, John Fox and the team from the Hepatitis C Trust, attended Hebden Bridge Happy Valley Pride, where local MP, Josh Fenton-Glynn took the opportunity to have a Hepatitis C test in support of the event.
The event was in collaboration with Mission Zero, Fast Track Cities and the Brunswick centre, eighteen people were tested for Hepatitis C. The Brunswick centre team also offered attendees the opportunity to have a HIV testing.
To round off the weekend, Wainhouse Tower in Halifax, Calderdale was lit-up in purple to support World Hepatitis Day in the evening of the 28 July.
