Members of the ODN team and Peers attended the Mission Zero conference on 29 November 2025 at Hebden Bridge Town Hall. The aim of the conference was to bring together services with a common goal, to end new transmissions of HIV, TB, and viral hepatitis in Calderdale by 2030.
One of the speakers at the event was Rachel Halford, CEO from The Hepatitis C Trust (HCT) who highlighted their work and the of importance of testing and treatment.
Simon Taylor, our ODN’s Community Project Support Manager (PSM) attended the event along with John Fox, the ODN’s Peer Programme Manager from The Hepatitis C Trust and his team of Peers. At the event Simon was able to engage with several services and sign post them to the ODN’s website where information can be found about local treatment centres and services relating to hepatitis C and general liver health. He also took the opportunity to promote the national Hepatitis C Self-Test Portal, where individuals can order a home testing kit for hepatitis C.
During the conference there was a question-and-answer session where Brendan Bennett, Peer Support Lead, John Fox and Shabana Begum, South Asian National Project Coordinator for The Hepatitis C Trust, were panellists. They answered questions from the audience from the perspective of both a service user and peer, using their own lived experience as a way of engaging with patients and clients.
