Members of the public in West Yorkshire are being encouraged to get their liver checked for free at locations across the region with the arrival of the ‘Love Your Liver’ Roadshow.
West Yorkshire Liver Care Operational Delivery Network will be hosting events alongside The British Liver Trust offering free liver fibroscans, a non-invasive, specialised scan used to assess the health of your liver.
A fibroscan measures two areas of liver health:
- How much liver stiffness (fibrosis) there is in the liver
- How much fat is in the liver
The roadshow offers a chance for individuals to prioritise their liver health by having a fibroscan and speaking to the team about liver health.
The events will take place at the following locations each day:
- Monday 8th July 2024 – Outside Wakefield Cathedral, Northgate WF1 1HG
- Tuesday 9th July 2024 – Huddersfield Open Market HD1 1RY
- Wednesday 10th July 2024 – ASDA Thrum Hall, Halifax HX1 4PG
- Thursday 11th July 2024 – Outside the old Debenhams Store, Briggate Leeds LS1 6AS
- Friday 12th July 2024 – Centenary Square, Bradford BD1 9SG
The ‘Love Your Liver’ Roadshow mobile unit is open from 10am to 4pm.
Come along and find out what preventative measures individuals can take to keep their liver healthy and be offered a free liver scan.
Nine in 10 cases of liver disease are preventable with the main causes being alcohol, obesity and viral hepatitis.
